Dr. Nicholas Devaney is with the Physics/Optics Department of the National University of Ireland, Galway. His research interests are in astronomical imaging with high spatial resolution, mostly involving adaptive optics and image processing. His current work in this area concerns the detection of extrasolar planets in data obtained using adaptive optics. Application of adaptive optics and other techniques for the enhancement of microscopy forms another of his interests. In addition, he supervises projects on processing of medical images; specifically on the study of retinal disease using adaptive-optics retinal images and the optimal detection of lesions in mammography.
Dr. Alexander Goncharov is with the Applied Optics Department, National University of Ireland, Galway. His research areas include adaptive eye model, virtual wavefront sensor concept and next generation intraocular lens solutions.
Dr. Michael Schukat is with the Department of Information Technology at the National University of Ireland, Galway. His research interests include deeply embedded systems and their applications in
Biomedical devices, bio-signal processing and network security.
